In order to understand The Village, I consider relevant the thought of priest Bartolomé de las Casas and of Rousseau. Both of them exposed that humankind is good by nature (noble savage). The Rousseau's Emile makes sense as a frame, from which the film reveals itself. This film shows how and why is not possible to build in an artificial way a place where people could get back into a previous state where we could be again good by nature. Exposing childhood to the perils of our world can be cruel but is even more cruel the pretense of protecting our children of everything and forever.
Para comprender El Bosque viene bien recordar lo que decían fray Bartolomé de las Casas y Rousseau sobre el buen salvaje y la bondad del ser humano en el estado de naturaleza. Sobre todo la utopía educativa del Emilio e Rousseau tiene sentido aquí. Y la película lo que muestra es que no es posible detener la historia ni dar marcha atrás a la salida de tal estado. Y que es una crueldad aún mayor proteger excesivamente a los niños del mundo que dejar que este los contamine.
